There are four incisions that may be used for your Washington, D.C. breast lift surgery. The incision that is right for you will depend on factors such as your current level of ptosis (sagging), the natural size of your breasts, whether you are combining breast lift with breast augmentation, and your personal aesthetic desires. During your initial breast lift consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Roberta Gartside, all of your options will be discussed and the incision best for your procedure determined.
Breast lift incision options include:
- In a crescent shape at the top of the areola
- Around the nipple in the dark skin of the areola
- Around the nipple and from the nipple down to the breast crease
- Around the nipple, down to the breast crease, and along the crease underneath your breast
Smaller incisions are, of course, best for minor ptosis and may not be suitable for the placement of breast implants. Dr. Gartside will take the time necessary to understand your desires and needs before making the incision suggestion she feels will best help you reach your goals.
