The First FDA Approved Prescription Eyelash Grower
Allergan, the makers of BOTOX® Cosmetic, have just released Latisse®. It’s the first and only prescription treatment approved by the FDA for inadequate or insufficient eyelashes, growing them longer, fuller, and darker.
Think of all the money you spend each year on mascara, over the counter eyelash enhancers, and the most costly of all, eyelash extensions.
Now, Thanks to ALLERGAN, YOU CAN GROW YOUR OWN!!
Here’s how Latisse® eyelash enhancement works: It’s called bimatoprost. It is the active ingredient in Latisse®
Research suggests that the additional growth of eyelashes occurs by increasing the percent of hairs in, and the duration of, the anagen (or growth) phase of the hair. Lashes can grow longer, thicker and darker because bimatoprost can prolong this growth phase.
Latisse® is available ONLY through a physician. It is sold in 30 day “kits”, and is applied once daily to the base of the upper eyelids via the supplied sterile applicators.
The effects are not immediate. Clinical studies showed patients’ eyelashes beginning to improve at 4 weeks with full results apparent at 16 weeks (as seen above). All patients in the clinical study showed some improvement, and over 78% showed results similar to the photo above. Latisse® may also offer some hope for those who have lost their lashes because of chemotherapy.
