The following are surgically treated by plastic surgeons:
- Birth deformities of the hands and face, clefts of the lip
and palate, birthmarks, and birth defects.
- Benign and malignant tumors including reconstruction
following cancer surgery of the face, jaws, and breasts.
- Injuries, due to accidents anywhere on the body.
- Aesthetic (cosmetic surgery) rejuvenation of sun-damaged
or aging skin of the face, neck, and trunk, including nose, eyes, ears, chin, breasts,
abdomen, arms, and thighs.
- Burns -- chemical, electrical, and radiation (X-ray) with
corrections of resultant deformities.
- Skin cover and replacement problems (unstable scars and
chronic ulcers), including skin grafts and hair grafts.
