Response To Asps Ad Campaign “nothing Short of Fantastic”
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) reports that response to their national ad campaign, highlighted in June on our blog, has been both immediate and positive. According the ASPS, call-centers fielded 376 queries in the first week the commercials aired. 26 percent of these queries were prompted solely by the ads. An additional 459 calls to a number posted on the ASPS website resulted in 129 direct transfers to member surgeons between June 9th and 24th. This response, according to ASPS president Robert X. Murphy Jr., MD., is “nothing short of fantastic.”
Why Board-Certification Matters
Anyone with a medical degree can call herself a cosmetic surgeon. Only someone who has meet the demanding qualifications of the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) can call herself a plastic surgeon. The goal of the ASPS ad campaign is to highlight board-certified plastic surgeons and protect people from the often tragic results produced by underqualified cosmetic surgeons.
