Silicone Vs. Saline Breast Implants

Board-certified McLean plastic surgeon Dr. Roberta Gartside offers both saline and silicone breast implants, but neither option is ideal for every woman. The best way to learn which type of breast implant is most ideally suited to meet your aesthetic needs is through a one-on-one consultation at one of our Northern Virginia locations.

To learn more about your breast implant options, please call Dr. Gartside at 703-742-8004 to schedule a consultation today.

Silicone breast implants tend to look and feel more like natural breast tissue, even when placed above the muscles in the chest. These implants will require a larger incision which can slightly increase recovery time and are only available to women over the age of 22.

Saline breast implants are filled after they have been placed. This can reduce the size of incisions and may decrease recovery time. When placed above the chest muscles, saline implants may not look or feel as natural as their silicone counterparts.

Of course, no single breast implant option is right for everyone. Dr. Gartside offers a number of breast surgery options including implant type to ensure every patient receives the services best suited to meet their individual desires.
