What Are My Breast Lift Incision Options?

One of the most important decisions you’ll make when planning your breast lift procedure involves where to make the incision. There are four different breast lift incision options, and the right one to achieve your desired results will depend on your unique breast size and shape, as well as the amount of sagging you experience.

During your initial consultation at our Washington DC-area office, Dr. Roberta Gartside will review these options with you and recommend the ideal incision location for your unique needs.

The breast lift incision options available to you include:

  • Crescent incision — This incision runs along the top half of the areola. It’s the least invasive incision option.
  • Periareolar incision — This incision is made around your areola and is an excellent option when correcting mild sagging issues.
  • Lollipop incision — A circular incision is made around your areola and another vertical incision is made that extends down to the breast crease. This option is best for correcting moderate sagging issues.
  • Anchor incision — This option uses 3 different incisions: a circular incision around the areola, a vertical incision down to the breast crease, and a horizontal incision along the breast crease. This is the most invasive technique and is typically reserved for severe sagging issues.

After the incision is made, Dr. Gartside will reshape the breast mound and reposition the nipple to achieve a more youthful appearance.
